About the location and surroundings of Villa Cycas

Quiet location

The house is on a private dead-end road with traffic from only the visitors to the 5 houses on the road. You can hear some soft traffic noise from the main road in the background, but it is very difficult to find any place in Protaras where you are completely out of range of any road noise. For the Cypriots Protaras is the most popular summer destination in the first two weeks of August. In these two weeks the main road is exceptionally busy.

Supermarkets en rentals

The closest supermarkt is 5 min walk, turning right on the main road. Opposite is a 24 h kiosk with basic items. Of course in a holiday area the prices are higher then in the normal supermarkets, but if you have a car you can drive 15 min. to Paralimni and find a Carefour or other big supermarkets. Recently, a Lidl supermarket has been opened in central Protaras, offering low prices for god products (about 15 min walk, or 5 min by car). In the same area there are many rental shops for hire cars, motorbikes and bicycles.

The best beaches of Cyprus

Protaras has several beaches. The main beaches, the ones that Protaras is famous about having clear blue water and sandy beaches, are in the main Protaras area. Fig Tree Bay is the most famous, but the beach in front of the hotels Sunrise and Costandinos the Great are our personal favourite. In that area you also find also most restaurants. These beaches are about 15 min walk from the villa. Then there are a number of smaller bays with beaches. They are nice too but usually have a few more rocks. Pernera has one of these bays, called Kalamies. This is actually the closest beach to Villa Cycas, about 10 min. walk.

Restaurants, pubs and bars

There are many restaurants nearby and of course there are many more if you travel a bit further. Turning on the main road left is Elias Tavern, very nice local food, also for take- away. On the main road turning right, you find within walking distance restaurants and pubs that also serve food. Going right on the main road you eventually arrive in the main central Protaras area, with many shops, hotels, restaurants and bars. On the main road turning left and then right the road leads you to Pernera, the second biggest area in Protaras with Hotels, restaurants and bars.
